I was still getting things up and running around the site when cherry trees started blooming and Hanami, cherry blossom viewing, swept through Tokyo. We were fortunate enough to meet up with a childhood friend of Mary’s who lives here now with her family and we visited Shinjuku Gyoen Park for a nice midday Hanami session.
Unfortunately, this particular park, in addition to having a small entrance fee, also prohibited any drinking of alcohol, which is weird because I kind of thought that was half the point of the whole thing.
Regardless, the park was packed. It’s always nice to see so many people taking time out of their day in the middle of the city to chill for a bit and enjoy the Awesome™ of nature.
I’m not sure how much I like the color treatment I did on some of these. I’m coming from Aperture to Lightroom for my RAW workflow and for some reason it really feels like pulling teeth to get the midtones and color spaces where I think they should be. Ah well, I’m sure as I use it more it’ll feel more like home.
